FLOWERS IN THE GARDEN, AND PROGRESS WITH MISS LILY

Looking at the flowers in the garden today, I could not resist taking a few photos.  I always forget what the name of this lovely flower is.  Commonly seen in many bouquets, this started as one single plant that has spread to an area of now close to three feet.  I love it when that happens!
This lovely fuchsia colored flower, I believe is called Campanella - please correct me if I am wrong - has self seeded throughout the yard, giving splashes of vibrant color.
As well as the beautiful Cottage Mallow:
Another one of my favorites that self seeds, Calendula:
And a delightful visitor to the garden - always a welcome sight:
Although, our summer has not really been summer yet (unless you count 3 days of warm sunny weather), we did get our first picking of broccoli - Yum!
Now for a couple of cute pictures.  Our Miss Lily is finally becoming less skittish, less shy, and much more relaxed.  It has taken her two years to become a more happier, relaxed kitty. (you can read Lily's story here)
Drum roll please.......
A well earned treat!  We could not be happier with her progress - still ongoing, but there is progress, Yeahhh!

  1. I adore Miss Lily and I can't bear the thought that someone hurt her (or any cat really)
You are such lovely people to take her in and take the time to soothe her fears.
I love that she is making progress xxx

  2. Wow, such gorgeous photos, Ina! I'd love to walk in your flower and vegetable gardens. And Miss Lily is so sweet. How you got that photo of her taking the treat I don't know though. I've been trying to take photos of our dog taking treats for a post and haven't been successful ... yet anyway. Fingers crossed it will happen soon. Re: Miss Lily, we've had abused pets before and it takes a very long time to get them comfortable with you. It always makes my heart break when you go to pet them and they shy away thinking that the outstretched hand means something completely different.
    Hugs,
    Shirley

    1. Thanks Shirley! Honestly, getting that photo was pure luck - it never happens! And yes, the progress is slow...but it is coming along...tons of love, patience and gentleness has been our approach, slow but working! 🙂
