SNOW DAY

This is what we woke up to this morning - a good 10 inches of snow with more to come today and tomorrow.  Don't think I will be going anywhere for the next few days.  Our main road into Victoria is covered, and icy!  They are advising people not to travel the roads unless absolutely necessary.  Fine by me!
In these neck of the woods, you know it is serious snow when it stays covered on the trees.
Growing up, we rarely saw snow.  Now it seems to be an every year occurrence.  Although, very pretty, give me sunshine any day!  It is in the depth of old man winter, that I miss summer time the most.  Today, I will make a big pot of tomato and beef pasta, some gluten free french bread, hunker down by the fireplace with a good book.
But first, it is time to get out the snow shovel.  Mercy!  It is only 1 hour later and now it looks like there is between 12-14 inches and counting!

  1. I absolutely adore snow days! Hope you've been enjoying yours after all, Ina. 🙂 Even 2 years ago (?) when we set new records for snowfall in our area, I didn't grow tired of the snow. BUT if I lived in an area where it was commonplace and life went on and didn't slow down, I wouldn't enjoy it as much. Maybe not at all. We've only had one light dusting here so far and might get another one of those this weekend. Not enough for me. 😉

    1. Shirley - I do love how pretty it looks, we ended up getting 14 inches of snow! In the town where we live, there is only one road into town and one road back - so things pretty much stop when we get this much snow, which is kind of nice once in a while! 🙂

  2. I just watched the news reports that Seattle has had some terrible weather, and I hoped you would be ok - but it looks like you are nearer than I thought 🙂
Stay safe and warm ok? XO

  3. That's a lot of snow! I like the fact of staying indoors, that's great! I stayed indoors today because it rained for ever & ever,...really hard! We haven't had any snow yet here in Belgium! Last year, a lot!

  4. Wow that's an amazing sight! And so hard to believe as I sit here sweating like mad. It's meant to be reaching 40C/105 F here in the next few days! Phew. Enjoy your snow xx

    1. Emma - wow, 40 C. - that is hot! As of this morning, the snow is gone, we are now in monsoons....the snow was pretty while it was here.
