I do this post in excitement, and sadness. We say good bye to our local farmer's market for the year - and wait in eager anticipation for next year. I was surprised, to get as much lovely produce as I did. Check this out:
So yummy. The carrots, rutabaga, green beans, and some of the celery, were used in our recent Thanksgiving Dinner. But, the star of this post, is the celery. I could not fit it's size into the picture. In total, it measured about 2 1/2 feet long. The leaves on this bunch were amazing, and I still have lots! When I purchased them from the farmer, she said, she dried the leaves. Dried Celery Leaves? I had never thought of that before!
This is just one stalk of dried celery leaves. There are tons more from one plant! In the middle of winter, when at the grocery store, most of the celery is looking somewhat sad, with few leaves, these dried celery leaves will be wonderful in soups, stews, and other sauces. Have you ever dried celery leaves? I can't wait to use dried celery in my winter recipes, - if you have any recipes you want to share, please do!
